The fifth book in my Sex Positivity series is live: the Demon Module! Check it out, here!
Blogger censored the covers so here's just an image of the cover model, the lovely Romantic Rose!
Update, 4/9/2025: I just completed "Make It Real" for Volume One's 2025 promotion rollout, followed by releasing the second edition of the volume, itself. The entirety of its changes are contained in "A 2025 Foreword: On Volume One's New Edition Focusing on Ludo-Gothic BDSM (and Cuwu)." Alongside it, I also released new editions for Volume Zero (small changes) and the modules to Volume Two: "Redirected the hyperlinks for quotes from Volumes Zero and One to the online book promotions: 'The Total Codex' and 'Make It Real.' Updated the abstract, acknowledgments and glossaries." This means all my book volumes are available in PDF format, as well as post-by-post in a blog-style format (except for Volume Three, which isn't out yet)! Give 'em a look!
As for the module, it's another monster (so to speak) sub-volume. Contain 1,245 pages and almost 1,200 unique images, it explores the poetic history of demons, covering manmade, summoned and natural demons in exhaustive detail; i.e., Faustian bargains and the Promethean Quest; e.g., deals with the devil, exquisite torture, Gothic heroines vs demon lovers (re: Radcliffe) and more! The module has taken five months to write, but is actually based on an older manuscript—a Humanities primer I originally wrote in 2023. Having since written my PhD and three other books, I returned to the Demon Module after having finished my Undead Module and expanded on it big time! In fact, it's my biggest book yet, and I couldn't be prouder!
Book details: My name is Persephone van der Waard and I am currently writing and illustrating a non-profit book series on sex positivity and the Gothic. About the project: Made in collaboration with other sex workers, Sex Positivity is a four-volume book being released one volume/sub-volume (module) at a time. From newest to oldest: as of 2/14/2025, my Demon Module is live; as of 9/6/2024, my Undead Module is live; as of 5/1/2024, my Poetry Module is live; as of 2/14/2024, the manifesto/instruction volume is live; as of 10/8/2023, the thesis volume is live. Simply go to my website's 1-page promo and pick up a copy of each for free! While you're there, you can also learn about the other yet-to-release volumes/modules, project history and logo design.
Note: Volume Two divides in three; part one is the Poetry Module, and part two is the Monster Modules, the Undead and Demons. Each module is effectively its own sub-volume with its own release, but also its own online promo series (where you can download the exhibit images at full resolution): "Brace for Impact," "Searching for Secrets," and "Deal with the Devil." For organizational purposes, all sub-volumes are considered part of the same overall volume. —Perse

Persephone van der Waard is the author of the multi-volume, non-profit book series, Sex Positivity—its art director, sole invigilator, illustrator and primary editor (the other co-writer/co-editor being Bay Ryan). Persephone has her independent PhD in Gothic poetics and ludo-Gothic BDSM (focusing on partially on Metroidvania), and is a MtF trans woman, anti-fascist, atheist/Satanist, poly/pan kinkster, erotic artist/pornographer and anarcho-Communist with two partners. Including multiple playmates/friends and collaborators, Persephone and her many muses work/play together on Sex Positivity and on her artwork at large as a sex-positive force. That being said, she still occasionally writes reviews, Gothic analyses, and interviews for fun on her old blog (and makes YouTube videos talking about politics). To learn more about Persephone's academic/activist work and larger portfolio, go to her About the Author page. To purchase illustrated or written material from Persephone (thus support the work she does), please refer to her commissions page for more information. Any money Persephone earns through commissions goes towards helping sex workers through the Sex Positivity project; i.e., by paying costs and funding shoots, therefore raising awareness. Likewise, Persephone accepts donations for the project, which you can send directly to her PayPal, Ko-Fi, Patreon or CashApp. Every bit helps!
